The Stupid Donkey
A lion and a fox were living in a jungle. Though both are termed wild animals a lion
and a fox were good friends but their friendship was based on selfish gains.
The lion used to catch his prey all by himself while the
fox being very lazy used to fall for the lion's prey for his hunger. Once the lion fell ill and couldn't
catch a prey. So the fox had to catch a prey for both of them. The fox was not willing to take any efforts
to catch a prey hence he got friends with a donkey. He knew that the donkey was easiest to be fooled. All he had to do was to
convince the donkey to go with him. So the fox said to
the donkey, "The jenny of this jungle is
a good friend of mine and I can manage her to marry you if you wish." The donkey
was delighted and agreed to with him. He was completely unaware that the fox
was taking him to the lion's den. After entering the den the lion instantly
attacked him but surprisingly the donkey escaped. Next day,
the fox again went to donkey and said, "Yesterday because of the lion we
could not meet the jenny but now we can go if you don't mind." The
donkey was so foolish that he didn't realise what the fox had in mind and so he
agreed to go along with him. The fox took him to the lion's den and this time the lion killed the
donkey. After
killing him the lion told the fox, "I am going out for some time. We will
enjoy our meal when I come back.” As soon the lion disappeared the fox
ate the donkey's head and ears. When the lion came back he got very angry. He asked for
a justification. The fox cunningly replied, "The donkey
didn't have brain and ears. If he had them then
he wouldn't have listened to me and come here.”
मूर्ख गाढव
एका
जंगलात एक सिंह आणि कोल्हा राहात होते. दोघे
हिस्रपशु असले तरी ते स्वार्थासाठी एकमेकांचे मित्र बनलेले होते. सिंह रोज शिकार करून आणायचा आणि आळशी कोल्हा त्यावर पोट भरायचा. एकदा सिंह आजारी पडल्यामुळे शिकार करणे त्याला अशक्य झाले. त्यामुळे कोल्ह्याला
दोघांसाठी शिकार करावी लागणार होती. कोल्हा
शिकारीसाठी धावपळ करणार नव्हता म्हणून त्याने एका गाढवाशी मैत्री केली. गाढवाला मूर्ख बनवणे सोपे असते हे कोल्ह्याला माहित होते. गाढवाला आपल्या बरोबर येण्यास भाग पाडणे एव्हढेच
काम कोल्ह्याला करायचे होते. म्हणून कोल्हा गाढवाला म्हणाला "या जंगलातील गाढविण माझी मैत्रीण आहे.
तुझी इच्छा असेल तर मी तिच्याशी तुझे लग्न लावून देवू शकतो." हे ऐकून गाढव सुखावले आणि कोल्ह्याबरोबर जायला तयार झाले. कोल्हा आपल्याला सिंहाच्या गुहेत घेऊन जात आहे असे गाढवाला आजिबात वाटले
नाही. गुहेत जाताच सिंहाने त्याच्यावर झडप घातली पण गाढव
तिथून कसेबसे निसटले. दुसऱ्या दिवशी पुन्हा कोल्हा गाढवाकडे गेला आणि म्हणाला
"काल सिंहामुळे आपण गाढविणीला भेटू शकलो नाही. तुला वाटत असेल तर आता लगेच
तिला भेटायला जाऊ !" गाढव
इतके मूर्ख होते की कोल्ह्याच्या मनात काय शिजतंय हे त्याच्या लक्षातच आले नाही
आणि ते त्याच्याबरोबर जायला निघाले. कोल्हा गाढवाला घेऊन सिंहाच्या गुहेत
आला यावेळी मात्र सिंहाने गाढवाला ठार केले . त्यानंतर सिंह कोल्ह्याला म्हणाला, "मी
थोड्याच वेळात येतो. मी
आल्यावर शिकारीचा आस्वाद घेऊ." सिंह
दिसेनासा होताच कोल्ह्याने गाढवाचे डोके आणि कान खाऊन टाकले. थोड्या वेळाने सिंह परतल्यावर त्याला कोल्ह्याचा राग आला. सिंहाने त्याबद्दल कोल्ह्याला विचारणा केली. कोल्ह्याने धूर्तपणे उत्तर दिले, “गाढवाला कान आणि डोकं नव्हतंच. ते असतं तर माझं
ऐकून तो पुन्हा मृत्यूच्या दारात आला नसता.”
तात्पर्य: दुसऱ्यावेळी तिच चूक पुन्हा करतो तो
मूर्ख असतो.
